It’s Friday, and that means Disney+ subscribers in Australia and New Zealand have a wave of new content to enjoy including some classic Disney shorts and tons of Shark documentaries.

Here’s the rundown:

AQUAMANIA (1961)

Avid water-skier Goofy sets out to teach his son the fine art of the sport, and accidentally winds up in a championship race.  He encounters a hapless octopus and takes a detour on a roller coaster on his way to an unexpected victory.

BATH DAY (1946)

Figaro the cat takes center stage, after he gets a bath (complete with ribbon and perfume) from Minnie Mouse, and then encounters a group of frisky alley cats.  A frightened Figaro wins the day when his shaking topples a tower of trash cans onto his rival, and he emerges the victor in the scuffle.  Minnie rewards him with another bath.

BUILDING A BUILDING (1933)

Mickey operates a steam shovel on a busy construction site, where Minnie sells box lunches, and a flirtatious Pete is the foreman.  When Pete’s advances cross the line, Mickey comes to Minnie’s rescue leading to a chase through a steel skeleton of a building, and a riveting conclusion.

FIGARO AND FRANKIE (1947)

Minnie’s cat, Figaro, is trying to take a cat nap, but the canary (Frankie) insists on singing.  A squabble ensues in which Frankie’s cage topples.  Minnie thinks Figaro has eaten Frankie, but the bird has simply flown the coop.  In the end, Figaro rescues Frankie from the neighbor’s dog, and domestic tranquility is restored.

GOOFY GYMNASTICS (1949)

Goofy enlists the aid of an instructional record and gymnastics equipment in an effort to become fit, with the help of some barbells, chin-up bars and cable expanders.  In the process, he wrecks his floors, gets flung around the room and falls out the window, before ending up approvingly behind the cut-out of the muscular man he aspired to be.

THE SKELETON DANCE (1929)

A lively quartet of graveyard skeletons come out to play and dance the night away in this spooky Silly Symphony, set to the macabre music of Edvard Grieg (adapted by Carl Stalling). Ub Iwerks’ inventive animation uses plenty of graveyard gags involving animals and a skeletal xylophone.

A Place to Fight For (Une zone à défendre)

François Civil (“The Stronghold”) and Lyna Khoudri (“Papicha”, “The French Dispatch”), will co-star in “Une zone à défendre”, which tells the story of Myriam (Khoudri), a militant fighting against the construction of a roadblock, and Greg (Civil), a police officer who goes undercover to gather intelligence on this movement of protesters which Myriam belongs to.

The Ashley Madison Affair

Follows the hack of an infidelity dating website for married people that shocked the public with a scandalous data breach.

SHARKANO: HAWAII

To find out why sharks are drawn to Hawaii’s volcanoes, biologists Dr. Mike Heithaus and Dr. Frances Farabaugh free dive with one of the most dangerous sharks: the tiger shark.

SHARK EAT SHARK

Around the world, reports of shark-on-shark attacks are on the rise. Now, off South Africa’s dramatic southern coast, a new hotspot has emerged — a bay where white sharks hunt other sharks. In a groundbreaking investigation, Enrico Gennari and Lacey Williams lead a team of experts into the deep to capture conclusive evidence of SHARKS EATING SHARKS!

SAVED FROM A SHARK

The scientific community is divided as to whether dolphins or whales will deliberately save a person from a shark attack. But the people who have lived through these terrifying encounters don’t doubt what happened.

RETURN OF THE WHITE SHARK

Hundreds of great white sharks have recently appeared on the doorstep of one of America’s most popular tourist destinations, hunting in ways never documented before. To understand why the sharks are here and what this means for Cape Cod, a team of scientists are studying this new phenomenon to try to keep people safe. Are the sharks changing the natural ecosystem … or restoring it?

BULL SHARK VS. HAMMERHEAD

In Florida, a rare event between top ocean predators was captured on video: bull sharks attacking a great hammerhead. Dr. Heithaus and a team of shark experts launch an investigation pinning one against the other. They put experiments to the test to see what happens when these top predators come head-to-head.

BULL SHARK BANDITS

Shark biologists Dr. Johan Gustafson and Dr. Mariel Familiar López investigate rising reports of bull sharks stealing from fishermen in Weipa, northern Australia. Could this methodical and radical shift in behavior provide new evidence of shark intelligence? To find out, the team deploys groundbreaking experiments and technology, including a new prototype diving cage.

Killer Shark vs Killer Whale

Scientists study and investigate the mysterious and atypical predatorial behaviour of orcas. They mark the disappearance of sharks from these orca attacks and try to figure out why these two raptorial species are going after each other.

Cannibal Sharks

Featuring two of the world’s leading shark experts to unpack and analyse the mounting evidence that shark-on-shark attacks happen a lot more than we ever realised.
