Disney has ordered a full series of the reboot of the classic 1980s series “The Wonder Years”, which is a coming of age story set in the late 1960s which takes a nostalgic look at a black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama through the point of view of imaginative 12-year-old Dean. With the wisdom of his adult years, Dean’s hopeful and humorous recollections show how his family found their “wonder years” in a turbulent time.

This new version of “The Wonder Years” stars Don Cheadle, who will be narrating the series as Adult Dean Williams, Elisha “EJ” Williams will be playing the younger version of Dean Williams.  The show will also star Dule Hill as Bill Williams, Saycon Sengbloh as Lillian Williams, Laura Kariuki as Kim Williams, Julian Lerner as Brad Hitman, Amari O’Neil as Cory Long and Milan Ray as Keisa Clemmons.T

The star of the original 80s series, Fred Savage, is an executive producer on the series and also directed the pilot episode.   Saladin Patterson has written the pilot and is also an executive producer. With Lee Daniels and Marc Velez also executive producing.

20th Television is creating the show, so it will be available on ABC and Hulu in the United States and available on Disney+ internationally as a Star Original.
