“The Bear” & “The Dropout” Win At The PGA Awards
The 34th annual Producers Guild Awards took place on Saturday evening at the Beverly Hilton in Hollywood and Disney picked up a number of awards during the event.
With “The Dropout” and “The Bear”, both of which are Hulu Originals in the US and Star Originals on Disney+ around the world, picked up Outstanding Producer for Episodic Television and Limited/Anthology series. With Disney’s YouTube series, “Only Murders in the Building: One Killer Question,” also picking up an award.
FX’s “The Bear” is about a young chef from the fine dining world, who comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he’s used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother’s suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family.
While Searchlight TV’s “The Dropout” is a tale of ambition and fame gone terribly wrong, Elizabeth Holmes develops healthcare technology that puts millions of patients at risk and loses everything in the blink of an eye.
