“The Bear” & “Shōgun” Lead The Emmy Nominations
The nominees for this year’s Primetime Emmys have been announced at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, where the nominations recognise remarkable programs, extraordinary performances and impactful storytelling across multiple platforms.
The live ceremony was hosted by Emmy winners Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph along with Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego.
Disney has had a successful haul of nominations, pulling in 183 nominations, with FX’s “Shōgun” leading the way with 25 nominations in the drama categories and FX’s “The Bear” picking up 23 nominations in the Comedy category.
Other Disney shows picking up nominations include “Abbott Elementary”, “Only Murders in the Building”, “Reservation Dogs”, What We Do in the Shadows”, “Fargo”, “Under The Bridge”, “How I Met Your Father”, “American Horror Story: Delicate”, “Welcome To Wrexham” and “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”. Animation was another big success for Disney, with “Bob’s Burgers”, “X-Men ’97”, and “The Simpsons”, all getting nominations.
Disney+ picked up nominations for its originals including “Echo”, “Ahsoka”, “Loki” and “Jim Henson Idea Man”.
ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” also picked up a nomination for Outstanding Talk Show. Other ABC nominated shows include “The Golden Bachelor” and “Dancing With The Stars”.
Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego said in a statement about this year’s nominations:
“Television delivers stories that connect us, uplift us, challenge us, and always entertain us. Today, I am honored to celebrate the outstanding work of our extraordinarily talented and hardworking creative community,” said . “This morning’s Emmy nominations are a testament to their contributions and highlight the incredible programming that has risen to the top of an exceptional year in TV.
While it might not feel like its been that long since the last Emmy awards, due to last summer’s Hollywood strikes, the 2023 ceremony was delayed until January 2024, but this year, it will return to its usual slot.

This year’s Emmy awards will air live on ABC on September 15th 2024 at 8:00-11:00 PM EDT/5:00-8:00 PM PDT) from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE and stream the next day on Hulu. The 76th Creative Arts Emmy Awards take place at
the Peacock Theater over two consecutive nights on Saturday, 7th September 2024, and Sunday, 8th September 2024, with an edited presentation to air on Saturday, 14th September 2024, at 8:00 PM EDT/PDT on FXX.
