“Star Wars: Visions” Season 3 Disney+ Release Date Announced
Later this year, Lucasfilm will be releasing the third instalment in the popular Disney+ Original animated short series, “Star Wars: Visions”, and at this weekend’s Star Wars Celebration event in Japan, more details on the series were announced.
The show originally debuted on Disney+ in 2021 and featured nine shorts by seven different Japanese anime studios that celebrated the mythology of Star Wars through unique cultural perspectives.
The second season, released in 2023, took the franchise internationally. It featured animation from Japan, India, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Chile, France, South Africa, South Korea, and the United States.
While the third season will return to its Japanese roots, with nine shorts from nine different anime Japanese studios, including Kamikaze Douga, Kinema citrus Co., Production I.G, TRIGGER, ANIMA (in co-production with Kamikaze Douga), David Production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio.
During the show’s panel at the Star Wars Celebration event, Lucasfilm’s James Waugh revealed that the nine new Star Wars: Visions shorts for the third season will premiere on Disney+ on October 29th, 2025.
It was also revealed that in the third season, three shorts from the first season will be getting a follow up in the third season, with “The Duel,” “The Village Bride,” and “The Ninth Jedi” getting sequel called “The Duel: Payback,” “The Lost Ones,” and “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.”
Other new shorts coming in this third season include “Yoku’s Treasure” from Kinema Citrus, “The Smuggler” by Studio Trigger, “The Bounty Hunters,” from Wit Studio, “The Song of Nine Wings,” from Studio Project Q; “The Bird of Paradise,” from Polygon Pictures, and “Black,” from David Productions.
