Sony Pictures has announced some changes to its release schedule for a number of Marvel films including both “Into The Spider-Verse” sequels..

“Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” has been delayed from this October, to June 2nd, 2023.

“Across the Spider-Verse” will continue the story of Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) as he ventures between dimensions alongside Gwen Stacy (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld). Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson are co-directing from a screenplay by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and David Callaham.

“Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse: Part Two”, which is the third animated film in the “Spider-Verse” trilogy has also been given a release date of March 29th, 2024.

Sony has also announced that the Marvel live-action film, “Madame Web,” will hit theatres on July 7th, 2023.  This new addition to Sony’s Marvel universe will see Dakota Johnson play Madam Web, who is a clairvoyant with abilities to see into the spider world.   The film also stars Sydney Sweeney with S.J. Clarkson directing.  The script is being written by script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Last year, Disney announced a new multiyear deal with Sony for the US Pay 2 window rights to all of its theatrical releases from 2022.  This means that following a theatrical release and the Pay 1 window release on Netflix, these films can be released on Disney’s streaming services and television networks, including Disney+ in the US.

Are you looking forward to “Madam Web” and more animated adventures of “Spider-Man”?
