Last week, it was reported by the DisInsider, that Rick Moranis was in early talks to return to our screens in a sequel to “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” and now Deadline has confirmed that they’ve closed a deal for him to return for “Shrunk”.

They’ve also confirmed that this movie will be made for theatrical release first, before heading to Disney+, instead of being a Disney+ Original.

He will be returning to his role of Wayne Szalinski, with Josh Gad playing his grown up son, Nick.  The original movie’s director, Joe Johnston, will be returning to the sequel to direct.

Rick Moranis stepped away from acting to raise his children after the death of his wife, but has done some voice-over work for Disney including two Brother Bear animated movies.

“Shrunk” will be produced by Hoberman and Todd Lieberman from Mandeville Films and Television.  It will written by Todd Rosenberg.

All three movies from the “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” franchise are available to stream on Disney+.
