Disney has released a first-look image from an upcoming animated short called “Self”, which is part of Pixar’s experimental short program, “SparkShort”, which is designed to discover new storytellers and explore new storytelling techniques from across the studio.

The new short is Pixar’s first hybrid stop-motion animation.   This new short has been directed by Searit Huluf and produced by Eric Rosales, “Self” is a story of a wooden doll’s journey of self-discovery as she strives to fit in and blend in with her peers.

Here’s a first look at “Self”:

“Self” will be released on Disney+ on February 2nd 2024, and will join other SparkShorts available to stream on Disney+ now, such as “Kitball” and “Burrow”.

The short will also be shown early at the El Capitan Theatre after each screening of Disney-Pixar’s” Soul” from January 12th through the 18th.
