Over the past few months, there have been many questions raised about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Marvel Studios looks to slow down its output in cinemas and on Disney+, to reduce costs, improve quality and to try to deal with audiences becoming fatigued with superhero content.

With all of the problems facing Marvel, along with the recent legal issues of Jonathan Majors following allegations of assault, there has been a big question mark hanging over the future of Kang in future projects like “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”.

Recently, it was revealed that Destin Daniel Cretton had stepped away from directing the upcoming “Avengers: Kang Dynasty”, to focus on creating the upcoming “Wonder Man” Disney+ series and a sequel to “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings”.

Initially, Michael Waldron was revealed to be writing “Avengers: Secret Wars” and today, Deadline has revealed that he will also be writing “Avengers: Kang Dynasty”.

Michael has previously worked on the first season of “Loki” and “Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness”, so he has an understanding of Kang and also the Multiverse. “Secret Wars” is set to be the closure of the Multiverse Saga. Michael also has a multi-year overall deal with Marvel and 20th Television.

With “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” set to be released in cinemas on May 1st 2026, and “Avengers: Secret Wars” set to arrive a year later on May 7th 2027, it gives him time to come up with a story, and with him working on both projects, hopefully this will drastically help the quality of the films.
