One of the many projects currently in development by Marvel Studios is “Avengers: Kang Dynasty”, which is set to be the next superhero team-up movie that was initially going to be released in cinemas on May 1st 2026 and will set up the finale of the Multiverse Saga, “Avengers: Secret Wars” on May 7th 2027.

Deadline has reported that Destin Daniel Cretton is no longer going to be directing “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” and instead will be focused on some of the other projects for Marvel, including a sequel to “Shang-Chi And The Legends Of The Ten Rings” and the upcoming Disney+ Original series, “Wonder Man”.

With Marvel Studios cutting back on how many projects it is making and also trying to put more focus on quality over quantity, having Destin focusing on finishing off the filming of the new “Wonder Man” series, which is due to resume filming after Thanksgiving.  Production was shut down due to the strikes earlier this summer.    Destin is an executive producer on the show and has directed the first two episodes of the show.

Andrew Guest is serving as a showrunner on the Disney+ series, which will now be released under the new Marvel Spotlight banner, which is being used for the upcoming “Echo” series and is supposed to be a more standalone project and street-level hero.

The upcoming “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” film is going to be one of the major points of the Multiverse Saga, which will tie together many movies and shows like “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania” and “Loki”, setting up “Avengers: Secret Wars”.

However, with the ongoing legal issues with Jonathan Majors from an alleged domestic violence court case, which is due before the judge later this month , the future of Jonathan Majors as Kang is likely at risk.

Do you think it’s good for Destin to step away from “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty”?  Let us know on social media!
