Hulu Developing “Close Protection” Series

Hulu is continuing to build out its original drama slate with a new acquisition from Universal Television called “Close Protection”.

This new romantic thriller is about an American bodyguard protecting a British princess.  The show has vibes from the classic 1992 movie, “The Bodyguard”.  

This new project is co-created by Dean Georgaris and John Fox, who are behind shows such as “Keu Witness”.  Dean will also be writing the show for Hulu.  The pair have an overall deal with Universal.  They have previously worked on 

It will be executive-produced by Davis Entertainment founder John Davis. 

Unfortunately, very little else is known about this upcoming project, such as when it might get filmed, where it will be filmed (assuming mainly in the UK), and who will star in it.  As with other Hulu Originals, expect to see it also released on Disney+ internationally.

While Disney generally does make the majority of its own shows for its streaming services, it has worked with Universal on many original shows for Hulu, including “Candy”, “Impeachment: American Crime Story”, “The Mindy Project”, “Four Weddings And A Funeral” and “The Girl from Plainville”.
