Last Friday, Disney released the first five episodes of its new series, “Goosebumps”, simultaneously on Hulu and Disney+, in addition to showing the first two episodes on Freeform and even making the first two episodes available on Roku.

The series has been inspired by R.L. Stine’s worldwide bestselling book series, “Goosebumps” and the show follows a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle – while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.

Disney has revealed that the show picked up 4.2 million views in the first three days of becoming available on Disney+ and Hulu.  Making it the most-watched season premiere by Disney Branded Television on Disney+ and Hulu this year and their biggest streaming premiere since the debut of the first season of “Monsters At Work” on Disney+ in 2021.

By comparison, the premiere of the latest season of Marvel’s “Loki” had 10.9 million views within its first three days and the first episode of “Star Wars: Ahsoka” was viewed 14 million times.   While “Goosebumps” might be considerably lower than the Marvel and Star Wars shows, it indicates that the show’s launch has been a huge success for Disney Branded Television, who haven’t been able to find viewers for many of their previous Disney+ Original shows.  Releasing the show on Hulu, as well, will undoubtedly have helped boost the viewership, as did releasing five episodes at once, allowing viewers to binge their way through multiple episodes simultaneously.

“Goosebumps” stars Justin Long (“Barbarian”) and Rachael Harris (“Lucifer”), alongside newcomers Zack Morris (“EastEnders”), Isa Briones (“Star Trek: Picard”), Miles McKenna (“Guilty Party”), Ana Yi Puig (“Gossip Girl”) and Will Price (“The Equalizer”).

Nicholas Stoller (“The Muppets”) and Rob Letterman (“Pokémon Detective Pikachu”) developed the series and served as executive producers, alongside Hilary Winston (“Community”), Neal H. Moritz (“Fast & Furious” franchise”), Scholastic Entertainment’s Iole Lucchese (“Clifford the Big Red Dog”), Pavun Shetty (“The Boys”), Conor Welch (“Platonic”), Scholastic Entertainment’s Caitlin Friedman (“Stillwater”), Erin O’Malley (“New Girl”) and Kevin Murphy (“Desperate Housewives”). James Eagan (“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”) and Nick Adams (“BoJack Horseman”) serve as co-executive producers.

A new episode of “Goosebumps” will be released on Disney+ and Hulu this coming Friday.
