FX Developing New “Snowfall” Spin-Off Series
Disney’s FX is developing a new spinoff series of its popular “Snowfall” show, which has recently received a pilot order.
The original “Snowfall” series tells the story set in 1990s Los Angeles as South Central transitions out of the crack era into the gangster rap business, with areas heavily infested by gangs led by the Bloods and Crips. Wanda would serve as the connective tissue between the original show and the offshoot, which is expected to introduce other main characters.
The show will see Gail Bean and Isaiah John return to reprise their roles of Wanda and Leon Simmons. It’s unknown if any other characters from “Snowfall” are also returning for the spin-off.
The new show will continue to be set in 90s Los Angeles after the end of the original series, and will follow a recovering addict, played by Gail Bean, who strives to take West Coast rap mainstream despite potential infighting from a harrowing gang war.
This spin-off show has been in development for a couple of years. It is being created by Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie DeJoie, Michael London and Trevor Engelson, who will executive produce alongside the pilot’s writer Malcolm Spellman.
As with other pilots, if the series gets the go-ahead, we should expect to see it released on the FX channel, along with Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
You can find the previous six seasons of “Snowfall” are available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ in the United States.
