20th Television is developing a new drama series called “We Were The Lucky Ones”, which will star Joey King , Logan Lerman, Robin Weigert, Amit Rahav, Eva Feiler, Hadas Yaron and Lior Ashkenazi.  This new series is based on Georgia Hunter’s bestseller about a Jewish family separated at the start of WWII yet determined to survive and reunite.

According to Deadline, Michael Aloni, Henry Lloyd Hughes, Moran Rosenblatt and Sam Woolf have joined the cast of the new series.

Henry Lloyd Hughes will be playing the series regular role of Genek, the eldest of the Kurc siblings who carries himself with irresistible charm and swagger. A lawyer by trade, he grapples with his pride and his faith as he navigates the horrors of war. Henry has recently starred in ” Mammals”.

While Moran Rosenblatt will play the series regular role of Herta, an uninhibited, playful presence who is the perfect counterpart to Genek. Moran has previously starred in “Lipsticka” and “Snails in the Rain”.

Sam Woolf, will portray Adam, a skilled architect whose quiet intellect and keen attention to detail catch the eye of Halina (who is being played by Joey King), the youngest of the Kurc siblings. Woolf has recently starred in the latest season of “The Crown” and will be starring in the next season of Netflix’s “The Witcher”.

Michael Aloni will play the role of Selim, the adoring husband of Mila (Hadas Yaron) who runs a medical research lab in Radom. Their daughter is not yet a year old when Selim is called to fight at the start of the war. Aloni has previously starred in HBO’s “Scenes From a Marriage”.

This new limited series is going to be executive produced and written by Erica Lipez, who also serves as showrunner.   Erica has previously worked on Apple TV’s “The Morning Show”.  It will be directed by Thomas Kail, who has previously worked on FX’s “Fosse/Verdon”. He will also be an executive producer, along with Jennifer Todd, Adam Milch and Georgia Hunter.

“We Were The Lucky Ones” is due to be released on Hulu in the United States and is likely to be released globally as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ internationally.
