First Look At Searchlight Pictures’ “The Roses”

Disney’s Searchlight Pictures has released some first-look images for its upcoming comedy movie, “The Roses”, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman, along with Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, Belinda Bromilow, and Kate McKinnon.

The film tells the story of how life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch): successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. But beneath the façade of their supposed ideal life, a storm is brewing – as Theo’s career nosedives while Ivy’s own ambitions take off, a tinderbox of fierce competition and hidden resentment ignites.

“The Roses” was inspired by the 1989 movie “The War of the Roses” and is based on a screenplay from Oscar nominee Tony McNamara.   It has been directed by Jay Roach, who is behind the “Austin Powers” trilogy, and the “Meet The Parents” movies. 

“The Roses” will arrive in cinemas on August 29th 2025 and we should expect to see the film released on Hulu and Disney+ later this year.
