Marvel Executive Teases “Daredevil: Born Again” Second Season
With just one more episode left of the first season of Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again” set to be released last this week, fans are now starting to look forward to the second season of the show, which is currently filming in New York.
The show follows Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened abilities is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.
In a recent interview with the show’s executive producer, Sana Amanat, he revealed some details on how production is currently going on the second season:
It’s been great. We’ve been shooting a lot of crazy sequences. The crew is crushing it, and the action is nonstop. The backdrop is a little different. It’s still New York, but it’s a slightly different kind of New York.
I’m very excited about the material we’ve been getting. I’ve been fangirling all week. We shot a really big sequence with Wilson Fisk this week, and I felt like a kid in a candy shop. [Laughs]
Sana was also asked about what they’ve learned from making Season 1 and how that is shaping their approach to making the second season:
I’m very happy with the way Season 1 ended up, especially considering all of the starts and stops. Ultimately, these actors are such incredible performers. You just have to trust them, and you know they’re going to give you the material that you need. We’re all fans, and we’re trying to do things that we feel are delivering on fan expectations. The last two episodes [of Season 1] for us were really about serving the fans and ourselves. There are some fun sequences that you are going to see, especially in the last episode. And Season 2 will hopefully be even more fun.
Roger’s Take: The initial announcement of “Daredevil: Born Again” was that it would be 18 episodes long, and due to the writer’s strike, resulting in the show getting a drastic creative overhaul, the second season feels more like them just finishing what had been announced. I’m really hoping we get a fantastic second season, where the new creative team can take the show in their direction, rather than just rehashing what had already been previously shot.
My other worry is that, so far, while many fans have been enjoying the series, it doesn’t seem to be pulling in viewers, that you’d hope a Marvel show would do. However, with this show being much cheaper to make than most Disney+ Marvel shows, hopefully, Marvel will be committed to letting these characters continue to be the “Disney+” side of the MCU.
The season finale of “Daredevil: Born Again” is set to premiere on Disney+ on Tuesday 15th April 2025 at 6pm PT/9pm ET and the previous episodes, along with the original “Daredevil” show, are available to stream on Disney+.
