First Look At Marvel’s “Wonder-Man” Logo
One of the many Marvel Studios projects in development for Disney+ is “Wonder Man”, which has been surrounded in mystery, as officially, Disney hasn’t revealed any information about it, other than the odd small quip in interviews about other projects.
The new Disney+ series is being created by Destin Daniel Cretton, who was the director of “Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and the next “Spider-Man” film. Also creating the new series is Andrew Guest, who has previously worked on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”.
“Wonder Man” will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the title role. He will be joined by Ben Kingsley, who is returning as Trevor Slattery. Demetrius Grosse will play Eric Williams, the brother of Simon, who becomes the villain. Ed Harris, Josh Gad, Lauren Glazier, and Werner Herzog are also going to star in the show.
The series is based on the comic book character who was originally introduced in 1964 in issue #9 of “Avengers”. Known as Simon Williams, a celebrity actor and stuntman. In a nutshell, it is a story of two actors struggling to make it in the Hollywood of the MCU, [asking] the big question: what does Hollywood look like in a world where superheroes are real?
Disney has been very wary of announcing new projects following so many recent projects being revealed, only to have to delay or cancel them. So lately, Disney has been holding off official announcements until they are ready, which has already paid off since the production of “Wonder Man” was impacted by last year’s Hollywood strikes, causing many delays.
This week, a new logo for the series was revealed through Disney’s media website, giving us a first hint at the show. The file name for the logo indicates that the show is scheduled for December 2025. However, it’s important to note that Disney hasn’t officially announced this, and it could easily change.
Roger’s Take: With filming already wrapped on the show, Disney are going to be in a much more favourable position to reveal deals on the project and with D23 Brazil taking place in a couple of weeks, it might be a great opportunity for Marvel to reveal its plans for 2025, especially with “Agatha All Along” finale coming this week, it’ll help keep Marvel fans engaged with Disney+. However, if the series isn’t coming out until the end of 2025 and maybe even slide into 2026, Disney might just keep any trailer or reveals until next summer for San Diego Comic-Con.
