Every European Original Coming To Disney+ In 2025
In 2025, Disney has a number of original shows and documentaries from it’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) division, which will be hitting Disney+ around the world and Hulu/Hulu On Disney+ in the United States.
There’s a wide selection of different topics, including a new drama series from the creator of “Peaky Blinders” plus many more. It’s also likely we will see many more originals from across EMEA released on Disney+ and Hulu later in the year, which haven’t been announced yet.
Here’s the rundown:
A Thousand Blows
BAFTA award-winning actor Malachi Kirby (“Small Axe”) is Hezekiah Moscow, and finds himself thrust into the vibrant and violent melting pot of post-industrial revolution London’s East End from Jamaica. Drawn into the criminal underbelly of the thriving boxing scene, he meets Mary Carr, played by Erin Doherty (“The Crown”), leader of The Forty Elephants – the notorious all-female London gang – as they battle for survival on the streets. As Hezekiah sharpens his new skills, he comes up against Sugar Goodson, played by Stephen Graham (“Boiling Point”, “Boardwalk Empire”), a seasoned and dangerous boxer and the two are soon locked into an intense rivalry that spills out way beyond the ring.
This new original series is coming out in early 2025
Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Meneze
Set immediately after the London bombings in 2005, the UK Original series focuses on the manhunt for a group of would-be terrorists and the tragic killing of innocent Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes, after he is mistaken as a suspect. Jean Charles de Menezes’ parents and other relatives are among those serving as consultants for the series.
Whiskey on the Rocks
In the early hours of October 28, 1981, a Soviet nuclear Whiskey class submarine was spotted aground inside a restricted Swedish military area. The world teetered on the brink of disaster. With global superpowers on edge, the eyes of the world turned to Sweden’s calm and collected prime minister, Thorbjörn Fälldin, a former sheep farmer, who faced the immense challenge of keeping peace between Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev and U.S. President Ronald Reagan.
The series is based on a story by author Jonas Jonasson, who had his breakthrough with the successful novel The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared. Henrik Jansson-Schweizer (Thicker Than Water, Superswede) is the series’ screenwriter. The director is Björn Stein (Shed No Tears, Midnight Sun), and the producer is Jan Marnell.
The series is a political satire inspired by real events, and is the first Nordic Original series to premiere on Disney+ in select countries and Hulu.
Untitled Freddie Flintoff documentary film
Award-winning director John Dower has been granted exclusive access to Freddie over the last year to film his recovery and document his cricketing career. The Disney+ Original documentary film will look back at Flintoff’s incredible life and cricketing career that saw him win two Ashes series with England and become a national sporting hero, whilst charting his life today and return to cricket following his life-altering car crash in 2022.
