Disney’s Onyx Collective has released a trailer for the upcoming British comedy series, “Queenie”, which is based on the bestselling novel by Candice Carty-Williams.

The eight-episode series is about Queenie Jenkins, a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in south London. She straddles two cultures and fits neatly into neither. After a messy breakup with her long-term boyfriend, Queenie seeks comfort in all the wrong places and begins to realize she has to face the past head-on before she can rebuild.

The series stars Dionne Brown as the titular lead role of Queenie, Samuel Adewunmi as Frank, and Bellah as Kyazike, marking the rising R&B singer’s acting debut.

Created by Candice Carty-Williams, “Queenie” is executive produced by Carty-Williams, who will also serve as showrunner. Further South’s Steve November and Sarah Conroy are non-writing executive producers, with Lisa Walters as co-executive producer and series producer. The series is produced by Further South Productions in association with Lionsgate TV.

“Queenie” will premiere in the United States on June 7th 2024 on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+, with all episodes streaming at once.  The series will also be released on Channel 4 in the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland, and on Disney+ in all other territories, though no release date has been announced yet.
