Disney Developing ‘Society Of Explorers And Adventurers’ Film With Ryan Reynolds
Disney is teaming up with Ryan Reynolds for another brand-new live-action film based on the “Society of Explorers and Adventurers” Club, which features in a number of Disney theme park attractions .
The director of the upcoming Disney film, “Strange World”, Qui Nguyen is going to be directing the film, who also recently co-wrote “Raya and the Last Dragon”. Ryan Reynolds will be producing this film with his executives at his company, Maximum Effort.
The “Society of Explorers and Adventurers” was introduced at Tokyo DisneySea’s “Fortress Explorations” attraction, before being used as part of the backstory in the amazing “Mystic Manor” attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland.
According to THR, the film will pursue alternative angles to “Society of Explorers and Adventurers” mythology in the present day by adding a new supernatural element to the history and following new characters not present in the original SEA lore.
Disney are intending to use this film as a way of turning “Society of Explorers and Adventurers” into a franchise.
There is also another series in development for Disney+ that is being written and executive produced by Ron Moore, who has previously worked on “For All Mankind”. This series is also based on the “Society of Explorers and Adventurers”, but is set in the Magic Kingdom Universe, which exists in another reality.
Disney has had great success with turning its theme park attractions into franchises, including “Jungle Cruise” and “Pirates Of The Caribbean”. It is also releasing “The Haunted Mansion” next summer.
