Today, during a special presentation at the Series Mania event in Lille, France, Disney announced a brand new Spanish soap opera series called “Return To Las Sabinas”.

The series tells the story of the Molina sisters, who are forced to return to their hometown, Manterana, to take care of their sick father. In doing so, they will have to face memories and find past loves that they would have preferred to forget. In the family, buried secrets will forever disrupt their lives.

“Return To Las Sabinas” will be unlike any other Disney+ Original as it will consist of 70 episodes, which will be released daily and is an experiment.

This new series has been directed by Jordi Frades (“Los herederos de la tierra”, “La catedral del mar”).  Jaume Banacolocha, Ignasi Serra, and Jordi Frades from Banijay Group’s Diagonal TV are the executive producers of this series, which was created by Eulalia Carrillo. Marta Creus is the production director of “Return to Las Sabinas.” The show was written by Jordi Calafa and Nacho Pérez de la Paz.

With streaming services having to create new content to comply with a European quota, so moving into soap operas might be a new opportunity to expand the amount of content created.
