Disney+ Adds New “The Simpson” 24/7 Stream
Last year, Disney+ added a brand new feature called “Streams”, which offers subscribers in the United States a selection of programming in a lean-back traditional television channel format.
The addition of these “Streams” included a selection of shows from Disney Jr, as well as ABC News Live. Disney+ Premium subscribers also had access to more channels, including Hits & Heroes, Throwbacks, Real Life, and a seasonal channel, all of which update regularly.
Disney has launched a brand-new 24/7 Stream for “The Simpsons”, offering 767 episodes across seasons 1 thru 35, which are programmed in chronological order at launch. This means a total of nearly 300 continuous hours with the Simpsons family.
Gabe Lewis, SVP of Programming & Content Curation, Disney+ said in a statement regarding the addition of the Stream:
“From day one, the fans have asked for a Stream of “The Simpsons”, and we’re happy to oblige. Streams on Disney+ have been a fantastic go-to experience for subscribers looking to sit back and relax with their favorite shows and movies, and we look forward to evolving the user experience and expanding the offering with more Streams, to more subscribers, later this year.”
Matt Selman, “The Simpsons” Show-runner and Binge-watcher added:
“The Simpsons” Stream will deliver a The Simpsons” marathon all day, every day — no matter when you tune in, this ultimate “Simpsons” binge will be there.”
Disney+ subscribers will continue to have access to the 35 seasons of “The Simpsons”, along with the movie and excluisve shorts via Video On Demand. Disney bundled subscribers also have access to the latest season via Hulu On Disney+.
Roger’s Take: It’s great to see Disney expanding these “Streams”, as in reality, it seems like such an easy win to bulk out the service with an easy feature that appeals to people who just want a more traditional television experience. Hopefully, other countries outside the US will also get access to “Streams” soon.
