Earlier this year, Disney announced it was bringing back the popular series, “Wizards of Waverly Place”, with a revival series called “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place”, which continues the story of an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities – and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.

The new series will see David Henrie return to reprise his role of Justin Russo.  Selena Gomez is also returning for the new show, where she will reprise her role of Alex. Though she will only be making a guest appearance, she will be an executive producer on the project.

David recently did an interview with Us Weekly about the new series and revealed how much they enjoyed working together again.

“It was awesome. We didn’t want it to end. It was great.  She’s so good. She has such a quick wit that’s only gotten stronger.

We have a couple scenes that I think will choke up the original fan of the original show, and they’re really touching, and they went really well. So, I’m excited for you to see it.”

Also starring in the series will be Janice LeAnn Brown, who will play the role of Billie, along with Mimi Gianopulos (Giada Russo), Alkaio Thiele (Roman Russo) and Max Matenko (Milo Russo).

David also revealed that David DeLuise, who played Alex’s and Justin’s father, Jerry Russo, in the original series, is also returning for the revival.

“It was a joy.  And we hope to have everyone back throughout the lifetime of the show, and if it’s up to me, as often as possible ‘cause they’re just such a wonderful addition.”

Filming is already underway on the show, and it’s due to be released on Disney+ and the Disney Channel later this year.

The show has been created by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, who serve as writers and executive producers, along with Gary Marsh, Gomez and Henrie. Andy Fickman directed and executive-produced the pilot and will direct multiple episodes.

You can find the previous seasons of “Wizards Of Waverly Place” on Disney+ now.
