Adam Ray Joins Hulu/Star Original “Welcome To Chippendales” Aka ‘Immigrant’
20th Television is currently developing a new series, “Welcome to Chippendales”, an eight-episode limited series starring Kumail Nanjiani, who plays Somen “Steve” Banerjee, the Indian-American entrepreneur who started Chippendales. The series will detail the insane, darkly comedic, crime-ridden story behind the unique male revue that became a cultural phenomenon.
It will also star Murray Bartlett, Annaleigh Ashford, Dan Stevens and Juliette Lewis.
Deadline has announced that Adam Ray will be joining the series and will be playing the role of Larry , who is the Emcee of the show. Adam Ray has previously starred as Jay Leno in the Hulu/Star Original, “Pam & Tommy” and as Vince McMahon in NBC’s “Young Rock.
Kumail Nanjiani and Robert Siegel (“Pam & Tommy”) serve as executive producers on “Welcome to Chippendales”. Alongside Dylan Sellers, Jenni Konner, Matt Shakman, Emily V. Gordon, Nora Silver and Rajiv Joseph, who is writing the series along with Mehar Sethi. Siegel and Konner will also be serving as co-showrunners, and Shakman will also direct. Jacqui Rivera is a co-executive producer, and Annie Wyman is a co-producer.
20th Television has created the series for Disney’s streaming services, where it will be released as a Hulu Original in the US and as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ around the work.
Siegel and Nanjiani executive produce Immigrant
