ABC Delays “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” “Press Your Luck” & ’ “Scamanda” For More Monday Night Football
Disney has announced some changes to its upcoming ABC schedule for the winter season, which has resulted in some shows, including “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” “Press Your Luck” and ’ “Scamanda” being delayed until 2025.
It was announced that “What Would You Do?” will be moving to Wednesday nights from October 16th October at 10 p.m. EDT, with episodes available the next day on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.
The reason for the big change is that ABC is going to be broadcasting more NFL matches as part of its Monday Night Football program.
Last year, due to the Hollywood strikes reducing the amount of new content available, Disney made a deal with the NFL to broadcast more games on ABC, which was described as a one-off season. However, both ABC and the NFL are adding six more nights to their lineup, allowing more fans to enjoy an NFL game in prime time.
Here’s details on the full ABC lineup for Monday Night Football:
- Bills at Jets (October 14, 2024 – 8:15 p.m. – ESPN, ABC simulcast)
- Ravens at Buccaneers (October 21, 2024 – 8:15 p.m. – ESPN, ABC simulcast)

- Divisional Round (January 18 or 19, 2025 TBD – ESPN, ABC simulcast) *previously announced as an ABC simulcast
Because of the shift in release schedule for Monday Night Football, it will allow ABC to give its game shows “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” and “Press Your Luck” a more consistent, weekly run in midseason when there are less preemptions (i.e. football, 2024 election).
“Scamanda,” is a new docuseries based on the No. 1 podcast of the same name, unravels the story of California native Amanda Riley, a young wife, mother and devout Christian whose life suddenly takes a terrible turn when she is diagnosed with Stage 3 blood cancer. Amanda begins documenting her battle online, captivating thousands, but she has a secret that she is dying to keep. Her story changes from inspiration to suspicion when someone sends an anonymous tip to investigative producer Nancy Moscatiello, who then embarks on a five-year-long investigation into Amanda. Soon, Amanda’s own words may prove to be her downfall.
Roger’s Take: Making Monday Night Football available on ABC is going to drastically increase the amount of people who can watch these matches. This helps Disney get more money from advertising and allows the NFL to reach a larger audience, which is a win-win.
It’s probably better for the other shows too, since once the new seasons start, fans can just watch week to week, without interruptions.
This coming December, a new ESPN hub is going to be added onto Disney+ in the United States, which will include content from ESPN+, so while very little information has been provided about how this is going to work, some of the later games might also be available within the ESPN hub on Disney+. Next season, a full version of ESPN is going to be available within Disney+ at an additional cost, so Monday Night Football will be available within Disney+ in the future.
