Taika Waititi To Direct & Write A New Star Wars Movie

It’s Star Wars Day and Disney has announced that Taika Waititi, who recently won Best Adapted Screenplay for Jojo Rabbit, directed Thor Ragnarok and directed the widely-acclaimed first season finale episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+, will direct and co-write a new Star Wars feature film for theatrical release.

The new movie will be see Academy Award nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho), write the screenplay for the movie.

Disney have also confirmed that Leslye Headland (Russian Doll, Bachelorette) is currently developing a new untitled Star Wars series for Disney+. She will write, executive produce, and serve as showrunner for the series.

Disney haven’t confirmed when the Taika Waititi’s film or Leslye Headland’s Disney+ Star Wars series will be release.
