20th Century Studios Picks Up The Rights For “The Barrier”
Disney’s 20th Century Studios has picked up the rights to a brand new time-travelling film called “The Barrier”, which is based on the short story by MacMillan Hedges, who will be an executive producer on the project, which he is adapting his story for the film.
No plot details for the upcoming movie have been revealed, but it has been described as Interstellar meets Top Gun.
The new film is being directed by Edward Berger, who will also be an executive producer. He has previously worked on “Conclave” and “All Quiet On The Westen Front”.
“The Barrier” will star Austin Butler, who has previously starred in “Elvis” and the Apple TV+ series, “Masters Of The Air. Austin will also be an executive producer on the film.
According to Deadline, the package hit the market before the Thanksgiving holiday, and eleven different studios were bidding to get the package. Disney’s 20th Century Studios won the auction, which went for around the seven-figure range.
No other details for this upcoming movie have been revealed, such as when filming will begin or when it might be released, either in cinemas or on Hulu/Disney+.
