“20/20: The Hunt For Mr. Right” Coming Soon To ABC, Hulu & Disney+
Disney has announced details on the next instalment of the award-winning documentary series, “20/20″, called “The Hunt for Mr Right”, which will be coming to Disney+, Hulu and ABC in the United States later this week.
When 52-year-old American University accounting professor Sue Marcum was found dead at the bottom of the stairs inside her upscale Bethesda, Maryland, home in 2010, her murder made headlines. Medical examiners ruled her death a homicide caused by blunt-force trauma and asphyxiation. DNA evidence found underneath her fingernails signalled a possible struggle with an attacker. But what initially appeared to be a burglary gone wrong soon took a darker turn when authorities focused on former boyfriend Jorge Rueda Landeros, a self-described financial guru who had lost large sums of money Marcum invested with him and who also stood to collect a $500,000 life insurance policy in her name.
Landeros disappeared to Juarez, Mexico, and eventually to Guadalajara, where he assumed a new identity, living as a yoga teacher and poet until he was captured and extradited to the United States. Last October, Landeros stood trial for Marcum’s murder, and a jury verdict sealed his fate. Correspondent John Quiñones follows the trail of an international fugitive with exclusive interviews and unprecedented access inside the case in this all-new episode of “20/20”.
The episode features interviews with Sue Marcum’s brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Barbara Marcum, as well as close friends Larry March, who discovered her body, and Lisa Colton, who provided investigators with critical emails. “20/20” was given exclusive access to Montgomery County investigators Sgt. Lawrence Haley and Paula Hamill and El Paso Detective Ray Sanchez, whose border interview with Landeros and DNA collection proved pivotal. Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy and DeAndrew Hamlin, once considered a suspect and later cleared by authorities, also speak out. Key journalist interviews include Washington Post reporter Dan Morse and El País journalist Elias Camhaji, both of whom spoke with Landeros while he was on the run from the law, as well as WJLA-TV reporter Brad Bell. “20/20” also has exclusive interviews with people Landeros befriended under an alias in Guadalajara, people who say they never knew he was a killer hiding in plain sight.
ABC News’ “20/20” is the No. 1 award-winning primetime program anchored by David Muir and Deborah Roberts. A proven leader as a long-form newsmagazine for over 45 years, “20/20” features unforgettable, character-driven true-crime mysteries, exclusive newsmaker interviews, hard-hitting investigative reports, and in-depth coverage of high-profile stories. Janice Johnston is the executive producer.
“The Hunt for Mr Right” will premiere on Friday, 16th January 2026 at 9:00-11:00 p.m. EST, on ABC, and it will stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
