Back at the Disney+ Day in 2021, a brand new series called “The Spiderwich Chronicles” was announced to be coming to Disney+.

The show has been produced by Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television. However, last year, it was announced that the show would no longer be released as a Disney+ Original.  Instead, the two studios sold the show to Roku in the United States, though Paramount will continue to distribute the series internationally.

The show follows the Grace family, who moves from Brooklyn, New York, to their ancestral home in Henson, Michigan, the Spiderwick Estate. Helen makes the move with her 15-year-old fraternal twin boys, Jared and Simon, and her older daughter, Mallory. Shortly after moving to the Spiderwick Estate, Jared discovers a boggart and realizes that magical creatures are real! The only one to believe him is his great-aunt Lucinda who implores Jared to find the pages of her father’s field guide to magical creatures and protect them from the murderous Ogre, Mulgarath.

The series is based on the popular book series of the same name by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. It stars Joy Bryant as “Helen Grace”; Noah Cottrell as “Simon Grace”; Lyon Daniels as “Jared Grace”; Mychala Lee as “Mallory Grace”; Jack Dylan Grazer as the voice of “Thimbletack” and Christian Slater as “Mulgarath.”

Roku has released the trailer for the upcoming series:

“The Spiderwick Chronicles” is executive produced by Aron Eli Coleite, who also serves as showrunner, along with Kat Coiro, who directs the first two episodes of the series. Tony DiTerlizzi, Holly Black, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, Julie Kane-Ritsch and Grace Gilroy also executive produce.

All eight episodes will be released on Roku on April 19th 2024. You can watch them on Roku devices or TVs, and they’re also easily accessible online at TheRokuChannel.com, iOS and Android devices, Amazon Fire TVs, Samsung TVs, Google TVs, and other Android TV OS devices.
