Disney has announced that the first three seasons of the groundbreaking historical drama series “The Chosen” will be coming to Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ on Monday, 29th April 2024.

“The Chosen” has been a cultural phenomenon and is based on the life of Jesus (Jonathan Roumie), seen through the eyes of those who knew him. Set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first-century Israel, the seven-season show shares an authentic and intimate look at Jesus’ revolutionary life and teachings.

This series is a crowd-funded project and has now garnered over 770 million episode views and more than 12 million social media followers.  With over 200 million viewers, “The Chosen” is one of the most-watched shows in the world.  “The Chosen” is an independent production written, directed, and produced by Dallas Jenkins and distributed globally by Lionsgate.

“The Chosen” stars Jonathan Roumie, Shahar Isaac, and Paras Patel. It has been executive produced by Chad Gunderson, Justin Tolley, and Chris Juen.

Disney looks to be taking advantage of the show’s popularity, which is also available to stream now on Amazon Prime, Peacock, and Netflix; plus, it is also one of the top-rated broadcasts weekly on The CW.   The series was also released in cinemas, so releasing the series on Hulu and Disney+ fits with the idea of getting this show to as wide an audience as possible.
