Disney is once again taking a trip back into the world of werewolves, zombies and aliens, with another instalment in the “Zombies” franchise set to begin production soon.

According to Production Weekly, a fourth instalment in the Disney Original Movie franchise, “Zombies”, is now in active development and is going to be filmed in Auckland, New Zealand.   It’s interesting that the filming location is in New Zealand, since the previous three films were made in Toronto, Canada.

Returning for the fourth film are Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim, who starred as human cheerleader Addison and zombie football player Zed, who met and fell in love during the events of the first film, where they had to lead their respective groups to coexist with each other.   Over the next two films, werewolves and aliens were added to the mix.

The official description for “Zombies 4” states that it’s a musical about Daywalkers and vampires co-existing in a special world.

Bloor Street Productions is creating the film, having previously worked on other Disney Channel films, including “Spin” and “Zombies” 2 and 3.  The new film is set to be released on Disney+ and is going to be directed by Paul Hoen.  The line producer on the project is going to be Mary Pantelidis.  The film’s casting directors include Danielle Aufiero, Amber Horn and Steven O’Connor.

Officially, Disney hasn’t announced that the fourth film is in development, but with Disney wanting to lean in more on established franchises and following the huge success of the previous films on the Disney Channel and Disney+, it’s not a surprise to see Disney returning to “Zombies” once again.

All three “Zombies” films are available to stream now on Disney+.
