Marvel Studios has many different projects currently in development for Disney+, and one of those is a series based on “Wonder Man”.

This new series is going to introduce a new superhero, Simon Williams, a.k.a. Wonder Man. In the comics, Williams is the son of a wealthy industrialist whose company falls on hard times due to competition from Tony Stark’s Stark Industries. Williams then accepts an offer from villain Baron Zemo that gives him ionic superpowers, including super strength and durability. After fighting the Avengers several times, Wonder Man ultimately joined their ranks.  The character was created by Stan Lee and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. Wonder Man was introduced in 1964 via “The Avengers #9″ comic book.

The series was revealed to be in development earlier this summer and will be “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings”, Destin Daniel Cretton, is going to be serving as an executive producer and co-creator on the new “Wonder Man” series, in addition to directing some of the show.  “Hawkeye” co-producer Andrew Guest is also going to be working on this new Disney+ series.

According to Deadline, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is going to be playing the lead role of Wonder Man.   He has previously appeared in the HBO series, “Watchman”, in addition to starring as Black Manta in the “Aquaman” film and the upcoming “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” film.   Other projects that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II have appeared in include the FX series, “Scent of Burnt Flowers“, and “The Greatest Showman“.

Also, earlier this year, it was revealed that Ben Kingsley is going to be appearing in the upcoming “Wonder Man” Disney+ series and reprising his role of Trevor Slattery.
