We have been informed by some of our readers that Disney has removed “Maleficent” from Disney+ in the United States.  Where it has now moved to the USA Network, Sling and Fubo Tv.  The film is still available on Disney+ in other countries.

The film tells the story of a beautiful young woman of pure heart, Maleficent, played by Angelina Jolie, who has an idyllic life in a forest kingdom. When an invading army threatens the land, Maleficent rises up to become its fiercest protector. However, a terrible betrayal hardens her heart and twists her into a creature bent on revenge. She engages in an epic battle with the invading king’s successor, then curses his newborn daughter, Aurora — realizing only later that the child holds the key to peace in the kingdom.

Unfortunately, Disney+ doesn’t advertise these removals in advance like other streaming services like Netflix or Hulu.

Disney had only added the film onto Disney+ in October and this continues the trend of some older movies coming to Disney+ from another streaming service, only to be removed within a short period, such as Cinderella.

This is due to existing contracts that hopefully will expire soon.

No return date for Maleficent to Disney+ in the United States has yet been announced.
