It’s the weekend and if you want some recommendations on what to watch on Disney+, here are my top picks to keep you entertained.  And with it being just over a week to Christmas, this has a slightly festive feel to it!

“The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration”

If you’re busy wrapping Christmas presents or something else and want to get in the holiday spirit, pop this special on (ironically I have it on while I’m writing this article!) and you’ll get to see some great performances by Sting, Shaggy, Pentatonix, Ally Brooke, Portugal. The Man and more at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.  The show is presented by Matthew Morrison, Emma Bunton, who also get to perform themselves.

Mickeys Once Upon A Christmas

This animated movie sees Mickey, Minnie, and their famous friends Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Pluto gather together to reminisce about the love, magic and surprises in three wonder-filled stories of Christmas past.  A great classic to get you in the holiday spirit.

Noelle

If you haven’t checked out this Disney+ Original movie yet, this is a perfect opportunity to get you in the Christmas spirit.   Kris Kringle’s daughter, Noelle, played by Anna Kendrick, sets off on a mission to find and bring back her brother, after he gets cold feet when it’s his turn to take over as Santa.

Wind

This week saw the addition of the latest Pixar SparkShort, Wind, which tells the story of a Grandma and a Grandson trapped in a massive, never ending sink-hole, living on a large boulder suspended by strong winds. Together they scavenge falling debris to build an escape, hoping to find a better life in the outside world.  It’s a charming short that everyone with a Disney+ subscription should watch this weekend.

The Imagineering Story

This week saw Disney add the final sixth episode of the Imagineering Story and it’s been one of my favourite series available on Disney+.  If you’ve ever wanted to know about the magic behind a Disney Theme Park, this is the show for you.  It covers all the Disney theme parks around the globe and goes back to the start when Walt Disney created the original Disneyland and goes right up to the brand new attraction, Star Wars: Rise Of Resistance, which only just opened this week.

Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings: Holiday Magic

This special edition of Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding series, which is hosted by “So You Think You Can Dance” all-star couple tWitch and Allison.  The show features a Frozen-inspired, winter wonderland wedding at Walt Disney World Resort and another wedding at Disneyland between Greg and Melanie.  Taking a beautiful wedding at a Disney resort and adding some bonus festive cheer to it, and you’ve got a lovely way to spend an hour.

Alice Through The Looking Glass

The biggest addition to the Disney+ library this week has been Alice Through The Looking Glass, which stars Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, along with an incredible British cast.   In this sequel, Alice returns to the whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter.  It’s on my watch list this weekend since I haven’t seen this movie since it’s initial cinema release in 2016 and its been long enough to feel fresh.
