Two Marvel Directors Join “Percy Jackson & The Olympians” Disney+ Series
Pre-production is currently underway in Vancouver, Canada, on the first season of “Percy Jackson And The Olympians”, which is based on the popular books by Rick Riordan.
The new Disney+ Original series is geared towards a general audience and especially tweens, teens, and young adults, the live-action series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.
The series will be overseen by Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz. James Bobin, who has previously directed an episode of Disney+’s “The Mysterious Benedict Society”, will be directing the first episode of the “Percy Jackson” series.
According to Midgard Times, two new directors have been attached to the Disney+ series, Anders Engstrom (Helstrom) and Jet Wilkinson (Daredevil). It’s not currently known how many episodes these directors will be tackling or if they will be adding any more directors for the series.
No release date has been announced for the series, but with filming not starting until the summer and with lots of special effects to add, it won’t be arriving on Disney+ until next year at the earliest.
