‘The Orville’ Star Scott Grimes Reveals Season 4 To Begin Production In Early 2025
Ever since the release of the third season of the hit comedy sci-fi series, “The Orville”, fans of the show have been wanting more and in the past couple of years, the cast and creators have been open to returning, since Disney has never officially cancelled “The Orville”, but a fourth season seemed unlikely.
The show is a space adventure series that is set 400 years in the future and follows The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of everyday life.
With the show’s creator and star Seth MacFarlane previously saying “All I can tell you is that there is no official death certificate for ‘The Orville. It is still with us. I can’t go any further than that at the moment. There are too many factors.”
Only last year, Adrianne Palicki revealed while promoting the new Hulu Original film, “Quasi”, that she didn’t know if the show would return, because “it’s a really difficult show to shoot”.
However, over the weekend, at the Star Trek Las Vegas convention, Scott Grimes, who plays Gordon, revealed in a panel, that he believes the fourth season of the show will begin production in January or February 2024. This was also confirmed by the “Orville” fan podcast “Planetary Union Network”.
However, it’s important to note that neither Disney nor Hulu has officially confirmed that “The Orville” is returning for a fourth season.
Roger’s Take: As a fan of “The Orville”, since this show feels more like a proper Star Trek series than the recent shows, I’d love to see “The Orville” return for a fourth season. However, I do think the show is going to need to go through some adjustments, reverting back to a more traditional television model, with shorter (and less expensive) episodes, in order to continue. The third season saw episodes go over an hour in length, some even close to 90 minutes, which probably isn’t sustainable, plus I could also see the show return to broadcast TV, to help cover the costs of making it.
The previous three seasons of “The Orville” are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world. The third season was released exclusively on Hulu and Disney+.
