Following the release of the season four finale of “The Cleaning Lady”, it’s been revealed that FOX Entertainment has not renewed the show for a fifth season and is now cancelled

The series tells the story of what happens when whip-smart Cambodian doctor Thony De La Rosa comes to the United States for medical treatment to save her ailing son, she soon discovers her path won’t be as straightforward as she had hoped. As the system quickly fails her, pushing her into hiding, she resolves not to allow herself to be beaten down and marginalised, and becomes a cleaning lady for organised crime. Using her cunning and intelligence, Thony forges her own path in the criminal underworld, doing whatever she has to survive.

This cancellation had been expected since it wasn’t included in the upcoming Fall season, and the show failed to recapture the audience’s attention after it was reworked following the tragic death of one of the show’s lead actors, Adan Canto, who sadly passed away from cancer.

The series stars Elodie Yung (“The Hitman’s Bodyguard”), Martha Millan (“The OA”) and newcomers Valentino and Sebastien LaSalle.

“The Cleaning Lady” is based on the original Argentine series and is produced by Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment. Daniel Cerone serves as showrunner and executive producer of season four. Timothy Busfield, Eddie Serrano and Rose Marie Vega also serve as executive producers on the series. Melissa Carter, Miranda Kwok, and Shay Mitchell are executive consultants.

The latest season is available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ due to a multi-year licensing deal with FOX.   The first three seasons are also available to stream on HBO Max, and the show is also available on a number of other cable platforms.

Roger’s Take:  Unfortunately, all of the major networks are keeping their schedules very tight, and anything that’s not pulling in enough viewers to warrant the cost is sadly on the chopping block, especially for shows they are paying other studios to create.  It’s a shame that FOX didn’t let them wrap up the show properly.
