Last week, it was revealed that Disney was working on a sequel to last years Disney+ Original film, “Stargirl”.

It’s now been revealed that the film will be called “Hollywood Stargirl” and will be going into production this May. It will be filmed in Orange County, California, and the team will be filming the film throughout the summer.

This new will be the first Disney+ Original to be getting a sequel and will see Grace VanderWaal return in the title role, who will also be writing and performing new songs for the film. Joining her in the new film will be Elijah Richardson, who will be playing the romantic lead in the film. With Judy Greer playing Ana, who is Stargirl’s mother.

“Hollywood Stargirl” will follow Stargirl’s journey out of Mica, Arizona and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibility.

The sequel will be bringing back the creative team, including its director Julia Hart and composer-musician Michael Penn, who will write and perform original music for the film. Jordan Horowitz, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman producing the sequel. With Kirsten Hahn and “Stargirl” author Jerry Spinelli also being executive producers.
