We have had a plethora of Star Wars content in 2022. Movies, films, even shorts and specials have made it onto our list. I’m going to rank every Star Wars title to hit Disney+ this year. This ranking is completely subjective to my personal tastes. But for now, let’s check them out.

7. ZEN: GROGU AND DUST BUNNIES

This three-minute animated short was produced by Studio Ghibli. It’s a fine way to spend three minutes, especially if you love the work of Studio Ghibli or Baby Yoda. But it’s not even remotely necessary.

6. THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT

There was a lot of hype surrounding this series due to Boba Fett and his lore. Unfortunately, this series felt incomplete from the start. Once Boba Fett escapes the Sarlaac pit, the show just plods along until The Mandalorian shows up. Mando is great, but the only “good” episodes, at least for me, where the ones focused on him. That’s a terrible thing for a Boba Fett series. This would’ve been better served as a small part of “The Mandalorian” season 3 rather than its own series.

5. LEGO STAR WARS: SUMMER VACATION

The LEGO Star Wars specials are always a lot of fun because they don’t take themselves seriously. It’s a fun little comedy set in the “Star Wars” universe. If you are looking for something to expand canon, you’re out of luck. But, if you want to see something silly, this is the 48-minute space comedy for you.

4. TALES OF THE JEDI

This series of shorts gives us a more in-depth look at both Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. They are well animated and are great for fans of the timeframe before the Original Trilogy. I enjoyed the Count Dooku shorts better than the Ahsoka Tano shorts, but it filled a nice void in animated content this year.

3. LIGHT AND MAGIC

This six-part docuseries takes an in-depth look at Industrial Light & Magic, the special effects company that is responsible for all of the effects we see in LucasFilm projects. It was a very informative series that gave me a new appreciation for those that help bring one of my favorite franchises to life.

2. OBI-WAN KENOBI

One of the series that I didn’t understand its purpose when it was announced turned out to be a solid entry. There are some unnecessary filler episodes. It would’ve benefited from being only four episodes instead of six, but still it was great to see Ewan MacGregor back in the Jedi robes. The story was good, overall. I wasn’t expecting to be drawn into a story this much.

1. ANDOR

The series I was least excited for was the one that I loved the most. I didn’t understand why a character we met in one movie, who dies at the end of it, needed a series. It still doesn’t make sense, but the creators took the ball and ran with it. This series was much more street level which made it work. TIE fighters have become a punchline over the years, but “Andor” made them fear-inducing. “Andor” felt like story arcs rather than an episodic series and it benefited from that style. This is my favorite Star Wars series of 2022. It’s my favorite Star Wars series on Disney+. It may be my favorite Star Wars property since Disney bought the franchise.

That’s my ranking. What do you think? Which ones did you love? Which ones did you hate? How would rank them?
