Sony Teases “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”

Filming is currently underway in Glasgow, Scotland, on the next adventure featuring Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, called “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, which is coming to cinemas next summer.

Because filming is taking place in the streets of Glasgow, there have been lots of set photos released on the internet from fans watching Spider-Man swinging from building to building, while also ripping the roof off a tank.

Sony has decided to embrace the set photos being released on social media by releasing a short video featuring Tom Holland on the set for his first day, meeting some fans and embracing the movie’s director, Destin Daniel Cretton, who has previously worked on the Marvel film, “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” and the upcoming Disney+ series, “Wonder Man”.

In the video, Tom Holland reveals some of his thoughts on his first day back filming as Spider-Man:

“My fourth ever day one on Spider-Man. “You know, it’s funny putting the suit on. It feels different this time somehow. It’s also the first time we’ve ever had fans on set for day one. So, it’s really exciting to share this with them. I’m just going to do my best. Hopefully get it right. No pressure.”

While many fans are questioning why the new “Spider-Man” movie is filming in Glasgow, rather than New York, which is where the character is from, generally it comes down to costs, as closing down streets in New York is much more expensive than in Glasgow. It’s also because New York looks a lot like Glasgow, due to the architectural influence.

Very little is known about the upcoming fourth Spider-Man film, but it will see the return of Mark Ruffalo, who will reprise his role of Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, as well as Michael Mando returning as the Scorpion, and Jon Bernthal will reprise his role of the Punisher from the Disney+ shows. Sadie Sink is also joining the cast in an unknown role.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to debut in cinemas on July 31st 2026.
