“Snow White” Tops Razzies Nominations
It’s award season, and while all the attention is on the biggest night of the year, The Oscars, which celebrates the best films released in the last year, it’s also time to take a look back at some of the worst films of the year.
The nominations for the 46th annual Razzies awards have been announced, and Disney hasn’t had a great year, since two of its movies have picked up some nominations.
Disney’s remake of its animated classic fairytale, “Snow White”, was the joint most nominated film for the event, with six nominations for:
- Worst Picture
- Worst Supporting Actors
- Worst Director
- Worst Screenplay
- Worst Remake
- Worst Screen Combo
The recent “War Of The Worlds” remake was also nominated for six awards.
It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to see “Snow White” nominated for so many awards, as it was a box office dud, pulling in just over $200 million and being critically written off. Unfortunately, the film had an uphill battle with public opinion, once some early photos of the “bandits” were leaked while the film was in production and comments from both of its main stars alienated audiences during the promotion of the movie.
Sadly, “Snow White” wasn’t the only Disney film to get a nomination this year, as Jared Leto was also nominated for Worst Actor in “Tron: Ares”
Both “Snow White” and “Tron: Ares” are available to stream now on Disney+.
