20th Century Studios’ upcoming film “Rosaline” is slowly building up its cast, with Deadline reporting that Sean Teale has joined the modern version of “Romeo and Juliet”, which will star Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, and Kyle Allen.

“Rosaline” is based on the novel “When You Were Mine” by Rebecca Serle, which retells the classic story through the eyes of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline, who is going to be played by Kaitlyn Dever. Rosaline is a sharp but idealistic young woman—who happens to be Romeo’s recent ex. What begins as an attempt to foil the famous romance and win back her guy becomes a journey of self-discovery as she ultimately works to help get the star-crossed lovers back together.

Sean Teale will be playing the role of Dario, who is a soldier who initially dislikes the titular character, but slowly starts to fall for her.

He has previously starred in the Marvel series “The Gifted”, “Reign” and “Skins”.

Karen Maine will be directing the film, with 21 Laps’s Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen producing the film. The novel has been adapted into a script by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who previously worked on the 20th Century Studios films “The Fault In Our Stars” and “500 Days of Summer”.

No release date has yet been announced for “Rosaline”.
