With just over a month until the release of the new Marvel Television original series, “Ironheart” on Disney+, Dominique Thorne has recently spoken out about her title role.

Set after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, Marvel Television’s “Ironheart” pits technology against magic when Riri Williams—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins, aka “The Hood” .

One of the biggest challenges about bringing Ironheart to our screens, is that the character is interconnected with one of the most popular superheroes of all time, Iron Man.  Let alone the pressure of following up after Robert Downey Jr playing Iron Man.

During a recent interview with Empire, Dominique revealed how he’s helped her get ready for the show’s release on Disney+.

“Robert Downey Jr and I spoke just after we wrapped, and he shared some very lovely words about my journey.  He told me how excited he was and that he’s rooting for it, too. I literally got two thumbs up. It’s really reassuring to know you’re not embarrassing Iron Man.”

One of the biggest differences between Tony Stark and Riri Williams is their background, especially with how, while they are both talented, they are very different.

“She’s dumpster-diving, whereas Tony Stark [was] this bajillionaire.  What she’s able to accomplish is remarkable.”

The series also stars Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White.   It has been executive produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Zoie Nagelhout, Chinaka Hodge, Ryan Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Zinzi Coogler.  The show has been directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes.

“Ironheart” is set to debut on Disney+ on June 24th, 2025.
