Rivals: The Official Podcast Coming Soon To Disney+

Following the launch of the new British Original series Rivals, Disney has released a companion podcast series on all podcast platforms, including Spotify and Apple.  It’s also been announced that the podcast will also soon be released on Disney+, though no release date has been revealed.

The series is set in 1986, and Britain is booming. “Rivals” dives headfirst into the cutthroat world of TV where hair-dos are big and ambitions are even bigger. Deals are brokered in boardrooms, as well as bedrooms. Nobody can be sure who will come out on top. With every man and woman out only for themselves, can true love really blossom in this highly anticipated adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s bestselling Rutshire Chronicles novel? This program contains mature themes. Viewer discretion is advised

“Rivals: The Official Podcast” is being advertised as the perfect companion to Disney+’s highly anticipated adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper’s Rivals! Join broadcaster Pandora Sykes as she uncovers exclusive behind-the-scenes secrets – interviewing the cast and creatives, and deep dives into the show’s bold storytelling. Whether you’re a fan of the original book or discovering Rivals for the first time, Rivals: The Official Podcast promises to take you beyond the screen into the drama, power plays, and exciting revelations from this scandalous Disney+ original series.

Here are some details on the episodes:

  • Episode 1 – Emily Atack and executive producer and writer Dominic Treadwell-Collins join Pandora Sykes to discuss bringing Rivals to the screen, and the joys of playing the hilariously iconic – Sarah Stratton.  Gary Lamont and screenwriter Laura Wade talk about the glitz and glamour of the 80s – and also the dark side of the decade.  Plus, Rivals fans Sindhu Vee and Kat Brown are here to spill the tea on all the on-screen naughtiness…
  • Episode 2 – Alex Hassell and Bella Maclean chat to Pandora Sykes about Rupert and Taggie’s simmering romance and the scene they almost couldn’t film because of a giggling fit.  Writer Mimi Hare tells us how she balances the light and shade of the series, and Lara Peake explores her character Daysee Butler’s journey.  Plus… Rivals fans Sindhu Vee and Kat Brown are back to share their thoughts on the casting, antics, and facial hair of Rutshire’s residents.

  • Episode 3  – Danny Dyer joins Pandora Sykes to discuss Freddie’s relationships with Tony, Valerie and, of course, Lizzie, as well as show boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins is back to shed light on that cliffhanger!  Actor Nafessa Williams and writer Dare Aiyegbayo discuss the tantalising moments between Cameron and Rupert in episode 6, and what helped Nafessa step into the high heels of her character – Cameron Cook.  And back to discuss their favourite moments from the series are Rivals fans Sindhu Vee and Kat Brown.   The stars join Pandora in her Rutshire Residence for the final episode of the series.
