Earlier this month, Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Dana Walden revealed that the box office smash hit, “Mufasa: The Lion King” would be coming to Disney+ later this month, and today, Disney has confirmed that the film will arrive on Disney+ on Wednesday 26th March 2025.

Exploring the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, “Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

The movie has been one of this winter’s most successful films, pulling in over $700 million at the box office, and it has been the number one film in the world on many occasions.  Recently, the movie was also released on digital platforms to purchase.

It features an all-star cast including Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

While we wait for “Mufasa: The Lion King” to arrive on Disney+, you’ll also find other titles from the franchise including both the live action and animated classic version of “The Lion King”, along with the animated series “The Lion Guard”, and the recently-released “The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl” concert special, available to stream on Disney+.
