Last week, Disney released the first trailer for the upcoming Marvel Animation series, “X-Men ’97”, which is a revival of the classic animated series from the 1990s.

The show follows directly on from that classic show and follows a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, and are forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.

According to THR, the trailer for “X-Men ’97” set an internal Disney record as the biggest launch for an animated series on Disney+, beating out Marvel’s “What If …?” and the Star Wars animated series “The Bad Batch” and “The Clone Wars”.

It’s important to note that this is just an internal record and will likely cover not just a single YouTube video but also other social media accounts around the world for Disney+, Marvel and others.

Check out the trailer below:

The voice cast includes Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.

The creative team behind the series includes Beau DeMayo as the head writer; episodes are directed by Jake Castorena, Chase Conley and Emi Yonemura, and the series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and DeMayo. The show features music by the Newton Brothers.

Hopefully, with the interest in the first trailer, this will mean more people check out the show when it arrives on Disney+.

The first episode of Marvel Animation’s “X-Men ’97” will be released on Wednesday, 20th March 2024, and the original series is also available to stream on Disney+.
