Over the past few years, we’ve seen the Marvel Studios release schedule in a constant flux, with dates constantly changing due to events outside of Marvel’s control, like the Hollywood strikes and the pandemic, plus script and cast changes.

One of the movies that has gone through many release date changes is the upcoming team-up film, “Thunderbolts”, which will see many of the anti-hero characters from previous films and shows come together.  The cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, along with Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.

“Thunderbolts” will be directed by Jake Schreier.   Very little is known about what the upcoming film is going to be about, other than following up on Valentina Allegra de Fontaine bringing together a unique team for a specific role, similar to DC’s “Suicide Squad”.

Originally, back at the Marvel Studios panel at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, “Thunderbolts” was initially announced to be coming to cinemas on July 25th 2024.  However, with all the delays (and the fact nothing has yet been filmed), the movie’s release was bumped back a year, with “Deadpool And Wolverine” taking its spot.

Earlier today, Marvel Studios announced that “The Fantastic Four” will be released on July 25th 2025, taking “Thunderbolts” slot. However, the good news is we won’t have to wait too much longer for “Thunderbolts”, as the release date has been pulled forward and will now be released in cinemas on May 2nd 2025, before heading to Disney+ later in the year.

Expect filming on “Thunderbolts” to begin pretty soon, in order to get the film ready.  Recently, there have been some casting changes, with Ayo Edebiri and Steven Yeun stepping away from the project due to scheduling clashes.
