One of the many Marvel Studios projects currently in development for Disney+ is a new series featuring “Wonder Man”, who, after an arrest, businessman Simon Williams, gets turned into a superhuman by a terrorist, Baron Zemo, who is played by Daniel Brühl and was previously introduced in “Captain America: Civil War” and returned in the Disney+ series, “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier”.

The new series is going to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed, “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” and he will also be directing the upcoming “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” film.   Yahya Adbul-Mateen II has been linked to playing the title character in the series.

However, officially, Disney hasn’t spoken publicly about the new “Wonder Man” Disney+ series, until recently “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” producer Stephen Broussard spoke with Comicbook.com, and confirmed a series is in development.

“[‘Wonder ‘Man will] be definitely influenced by the comics. One of the things that we’re excited about it is that it’s going to feel very unique. It’s not going to feel like anything you’ve quite seen in the MCU before. And the kind of stories we can tell on Disney+, which has been fun. Like streaming, serialized storytelling is a totally different muscle.”

Tara Duncan, Kevin Feige and Asher Goldstein are also listed as producers on the new Disney+ show, which is being written by Madeline Walter, Paul Bradford Welsh and Andrew Guest.

There have been lots of discussions about Marvel planning on scaling back the number of projects it releases each year, following the feedback to Phase 4, so it might be a while until we see “Wonder Man” on our screens.  Filming on the new series is due to begin in April and run through to August, so with a year of post-production, reshoots and special effect work, it might be late 2024 or early 2025 before it arrives on our screens.

Hopefully, Disney will provide more official details on the new “Wonder Man” series at some point later this year, possibly at San Diego Comic-Con.
