Disney’s 20th Television is currently developing a new half-hour comedy series called, “Not Dead Yet”, which will star Gina Rodriguez,

“Not Dead Yet” follows Nell Stevens (Rodriguez), a broke and newly single self-described disaster, who is working to restart the life and career she left behind 10 years ago. A once-successful journalist, Nell put her career on hold to help her fiancé get his restaurant off the ground. Following their breakup, she takes the only job she can get – writing obituaries – which at first seems like a step backwards but ultimately might be exactly what she needs to move forward.

“Not Dead Yet” also stars Joshua Banday, Angela Gibbs, Rick Glassman, and Hannah Simone.

Deadline is reporting that Lauren Ash has joined the cast of the new series.  She has previously starred in NBC’s “Superstore” and in Netflix’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power“.  The actress also took to social media to confirm the news.

Lauren Ash will play a new character, Lexi, the daughter of a wealthy newspaper owner and recently appointed editor. Lexi was raised in a rarefied world of boarding schools and private planes and is comedically out of touch with how normal people live. A former almost-Olympian horse jumper, Lexi exudes extreme confidence. But the truth is she’s in way over her head, and if the newspaper fails, she’ll never win her father’s approval – something she desperately wants.

The new series is adapted from the book “Confessions of a 40-something F**k Up” by Alexandra Potter.  The series is being created by David Windsor and Casey Johnson (“This Is Us,” “The Real O’Neals”).

Casey Johnson and David Windsor are creators and executive producers. Also executive producing is Gina Rodriguez and Wonderland Sound and Vision’s McG, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh.

The series will be released on ABC and Hulu in the United States. The series is set to debut in midseason.  Since this series is produced by 20th Television, it’s expected that this series will also be released as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ internationally.
