Filming on the upcoming Marvel Studios Disney+ series, “Daredevil: Born Again”, begins this month in New York and is scheduled to take all year to film, since the series will consist of 18 episodes.   At last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that the new show is currently scheduled to be released in Spring 2024, but obviously, schedules can change between then and now.

The new Disney+ series will see Charlie Cox return to the role of Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio is also returning as the Kingpin.    Also starring in the new Disney+ series will be Michael Gandolfini, Sandrine Holt, Margarita Levieva and Nikki M. James.

According to THR, Jon Bernthal is returning to reprise the role of Frank Castle, aka antihero the Punisher.  It’s not known how many episodes he will be returning for.   He previously played the character in the second season of “Daredevil” and the character was span off into his own series for two seasons.  While the Born Again comic book doesn’t feature the Punisher, the series is going to be retelling the story in a different way.

It was also reported that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, are not expected to return as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson.  It’s unknown if these characters will be recast or just won’t appear in the show.    Marvel hasn’t officially announced any more details on the show since last year’s D23 Expo.

Back in 2021, Jon Bernthal spoke about returning as the Punisher:

“I think if there’s any let up on that character, you do a disservice to the character, to every iteration of the character, to every comic book that’s come before, and to all of the unbelievable fans of the character.  This character means so much to people in the military. So like I said before, it’s not about whether you do the character; it’s about whether you can do it right, and I’m only interested in doing it right.”

Writers and executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord are behind the show, which is expected to bow in the spring of 2024.

Both seasons of “The Punisher” are also available to stream now on Disney+, along with the three Daredevil seasons.

Are you looking forward to the return of “Daredevil”?
